In Galatians 3:16 Paul says that God's promise to Abraham was made to his "seed”. And that "seed" – that seed is referring to Christ—so the promises were ultimately fulfilled in Christ. He came to make us righteous.

As prisoners of satan you had no rights. your passport was revoked. You were an un-citizen. Jesus came to line you back up with the government of God so you can claim your rights. He came to pardon you.
